Dori Robinson
DIRECTOR, PERFORMER, PLAYWRIGHT, EDUCATOR
Welcome... ...ברוכים הבאים

I am a director, playwright, performer, and educator focused on identity, heritage, and our shared stories. With my unique background as an American Israeli Jew with Egyptian roots and a Master’s degree from New York University’s Educational Theatre program, I have dedicated years to developing dynamic theatre in a variety of communities. My creative journey encompasses text-driven plays, devised ensemble theatre, magical realism, puppetry, masks, exploring gender and politics, new play development, and an enormous love of Shakespeare.
My original plays have been produced in New York, Chicago, and Boston, most recently The Elm Tree with my company, Alight Theater Guild, with whom I am also the co-host of the TREE SPEECH PODCAST, where we explore the nexus of our personal, historical, and cultural ties to trees. I'm proud to teach at Northeastern and Brandeis University, and am a member of SDC.
Please reach out - I look forward to many creative conversations together.

Director
Art enables an experience which can inspire, heal, motivate, and fashion a common vocabulary between people despite social and geographic boundaries. I want to generate these kinds of exchanges by creating innovative stories and challenging questions. Theatre and education elicit my strongest skills: leadership, textual analysis, my concern with current events (and their past counterparts), and most of all, my ability to collaborate with an ensemble to generate visceral and immediate work. Amalgamating these skills enables me to fulfill my potential as an artist, an activist, and a person.
Let's ask challenging questions and create authentic and engaging stories together.
